  • In close collaboration with his/her colleagues at the MOH, the National Quality of Care Coordinator will support all activities related to the management of the ART Collaborative. It is possible that in the future activities will include other area of clinical care. Key responsibilities include:
    • Work in close collaboration with all technical advisors at NASCOP towards systematically improving outcomes of care
    • Provides assistance to the Chair of the HIV/AIDS Collaborative as needed
    • Work closely with relevant NASCOP, MOH and other Government of Kenya bodies to ensure integration of the Quality Improvement Approach at site, sub-county, county, and national levels, and along the HIV cascade of testing, treatment, viral load suppression
    • Build Quality Improvement capacity of county and sub-county supervisors
    • Provide assistance towards adaptation of the new national ART guideline and differentiated models of care delivery
    • Lead the planning and helps to manage logistics and content of all Learning Sessions
    • Help to plan and manage all content for coaching during Action Periods (in between Learning Sessions)
    • Ensure timely and regular coaching visits to teams at all health facilities included in the Collaborative Improvement activity
    • Ensure timely documentation of all activities and progress of health facility teams at all Collaborative Improvement sites
    • Help to manage data collection, monitoring, analysis and reporting for all Collaborative Quality Improvement sites
    • Facilitate the development of periodic team action plans at all Collaborative Quality Improvement sites
    • Collaborate, supports, and communicates regularly and effectively with all relevant bodies and technical working groups within NASCOP, and with all Oxford Epi/Kenya staff and consultants
    • Produce monthly progress reports of activities to be shared with the Head of NASCOP;
    • Write and edits other necessary correspondences and documents/reports as needed
    • Foster and maintains relationships with local partners in HIV/AIDS Care and Support
    • Identify and develops local champions in quality improvement
    • Work closely with the Deputy National Quality of Care Coordinator at NASCOP to update quality improvement tools
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Medical Doctor with a Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Education, Sociology, or other related field (PhD preferred)
    • Familiarity with the Kenyan healthcare delivery system
    • 7 to 10 years work experience, including management level experience in international projects
    • Trained in clinical management of HIV/AIDS
    • Sound understanding and recent experience in implementing modern quality improvement approaches
    • Experience in process analysis, and in designing assessment tools
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams and effectively communicate new, complex and/or sensitive topics;
    • Experience in the set up and use of electronic data collection and real time data management systems
    • Experience working in counties either as service provider or supervisor
    • Advanced written communication: proposal development, report writing, report preparation;
    • Familiarity with modern continuous quality improvement methods
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, and the Internet
    • Fluent in English and Swahili
