Honey Care Africa (HCA) is a Kenyan for-profit social enterprise that was established in 2000 to reconfigure the dynamics between the private sector, the development sector, and rural communities through our innovative Tripartite Model. After more than a decade of development, Honey Care is profitable while employing a market-based approach to achieve specific social and environmental objectives. The main beneficiaries of our products are subsistence farmers who are able to increase their income, and communities that benefit from both increased economic activity and environmental preservation.
HCA has a history of strong partnerships with NGOs, foundations, religious institutions, corporations, governments, and other civil service organizations. We have actively shaped the academic discourse on social enterprise with 12 business schools across North America now teaching the Honey Care case study, and have been recognized with awards by many of the pioneering organizations in social development. Our on-the-ground experience includes projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, South Sudan, and Macedonia.
