The Community Health Department (CHD) of Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya (AKHS, K) has been operating since 1983 in Kenya. The department is a well-established provider of technical assistance to communities, local and international NGOs and the Ministry of Health (MoH) on all aspects of community health. Based in Mombasa, the strategic focus of CHD is to build partnerships between community-based organizations (CBO's) and the MoH, for the benefit of both.
The Organization works to demonstrate effective provision of primary care services through capacity building (training), and development of efficient and useful Health Management Information System (HMIS) at household (community-based HIS) as well as facilities at all levels of care.
